The surgery
What is a facelift?
A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is surgery that repositions the deep tissues of the face and neck and removes excess skin. It improves sagging cheeks, the jawline, the double chin and the neck.
Unlike a surface treatment, it works on the supporting layers of the face, which is why the change looks natural and lasts for years.
It can be combined with eyelid surgery or double-chin liposuction; the doctor tells you at your consultation what suits you.
- Cheeks
Returns sagging cheeks to their position.
- Jawline
Defines the contour and reduces sagging beside the chin.
- Neck
Tightens the neck and improves bands and loose skin.
- Double chin
Improves the angle between the jaw and the neck.
- Folds
Softens deep folds in the lower face.
- Expression
A more rested face that keeps your expressions.
Is it for you?
Who is a good candidate.
- You notice sagging in your cheeks, jawline or neck.
- You are in good health and have a clear idea of the change you want.
- You do not smoke, or can stop before and after surgery.
- You want a natural change, not a different face.
Your consultation with the doctor confirms whether a facelift is the best option or whether another procedure suits you better.

How it works.
Consultation
The doctor analyzes your face and neck, listens to what you would like to improve and explains the right technique and your quote.
Surgery
Performed in an operating room under anesthesia; it usually takes several hours. The incisions are hidden around the ear and along the hairline.
Recovery
Swelling and bruising go down over the first two to three weeks, when many people return to their social life.
Result
The face settles over the following months; the final result is seen between 3 and 6 months.
Timelines are approximate; the doctor gives you your exact plan.
