What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is surgery that reshapes the nose. It can refine the tip, remove a dorsal hump, correct a deviation or adjust the width, always in proportion with the forehead, eyes, lips and chin.
The goal is not a catalog nose, but the one that suits your face best. That is why every plan starts by analyzing your whole face, from the front and in profile.
If you also have trouble breathing because of a deviated septum, the consultation assesses whether it should be corrected in the same surgery.

How it works.
Consultation
The doctor analyzes your face, listens to what you would like to change and explains what is possible, the right technique and your quote.
Surgery
Performed in an operating room under general anesthesia; it usually takes two to three hours. Depending on your case, the technique may be open or closed.
Recovery
You wear a splint for about a week. Swelling and bruising go down over the first two weeks, and many people return to office work within 7 to 14 days.
Result
The nose refines gradually. The final result, especially at the tip, is seen at around one year.

Does rhinoplasty hurt?
You feel nothing during surgery because of the anesthesia. Afterwards there is moderate discomfort and a stuffy-nose feeling for the first few days, controlled with the medication the doctor prescribes.
Will there be a visible scar?
With the closed technique there is no visible scar. With the open technique there is a small scar at the base of the nose (the columella) that usually becomes barely noticeable over time.
When will I see the final result?
You notice the change as soon as the splint comes off, but the nose keeps refining over the months. The final result, especially at the tip, is seen at around one year.
At what age can I have rhinoplasty?
Once the face has finished developing, generally from age 16 to 18. The doctor confirms it at your consultation.
